Larry re-cocked the gun and stepped forward, deliberately and slowly. “You made me suffer for your wicked plan. That’s what the first bullet was for. Now you’re going to hell.” He pointed the revolver at my head.
What a way to die. What would happen to Sally, our baby, and the ladies? Was this the end of our plans? I closed my eyes against the inevitable.
Another pop.
I was still breathing and cracked open my eyes.
Larry’s right arm hung limp and blood coursed down his sleeve.
“Daddy,” screamed Jenny, “drop the gun.” She stood at the bottom of the front steps, pointing her gun at Larry’s back.
“Daddy, I mean it. Drop the gun.”
My head spun like a top.
Larry dropped the gun and retrieved it with his left hand.
Jenny stepped closer. “Daddy, drop the gun. I’ll shoot. I mean it.”
Larry growled, “Woody has to die. Then you can shoot me.”
